Poverty Simulation changed the way I thought about poverty. There are so many challenges that come with a lack of resources. This experience helped me learn how to better empathize with those struggling in our community.
-Poverty Simulation Participant
Do you want to spark social change in your community?
Poverty Simulation is a 3-hour transformative, role-playing experience that demonstrates what life is like during a given month for families experiencing poverty.
During these simulations, participants examine poverty through a different lens and discover biases, explore barriers in their community, and discuss solutions.
Sign up individually or register as a group.
Poverty Simulation is ideal for:
- Anybody who interacts with our neighbors experiencing poverty.
- Those wanting to change our community for the better.
- Curious and inquisitive community members with a passion for growing in understanding.
- Those who serve the community in a business, non-profit, or public service capacity.
Poverty Simulation is offered at no cost to participants. This program is a partnership between Second Harvest Food Bank, Shafer Leadership Academy, and Minnetrista
