December 6, 2013, Muncie, IN – The Shafer Leadership Academy, East Central Indiana’s premiere leadership development academy, recently announced the addition of two new board members. Jill Lehman and Mitchell Isaacs are the newest members of the SLA Board of Directors that are dedicated to the success and sustainability of the organization. Through leadership development, they will help to see vibrant communities and workplaces developed within East Central Indiana supported by skilled, collaborative, and engaged leaders.
Governed by a board of volunteer directors, The Shafer Leadership Academy is a not-for-profit community leadership academy where people of all ages, backgrounds and interests can access the tools necessary to develop and enhance their leadership skills. The organization’s goal is to provide expert leadership training that meets the needs of East Central Indiana communities, businesses, civic, not-for-profit organizations, and private individuals.
Jill Lehman
Vice President, Administration & Chief People Officer, Ontario Systems
Jill Lehman is the Vice President of Administration & Chief People Officer at Ontario Systems. Her current human resources responsibilities are comprised of strategic planning, culture transformation, talent acquisition, planning, total rewards, organization development, employee relations and engagement. Utilizing her experience in operations & general management, she also leads the general administrative, procurement, facility management & community relations efforts. Jill holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and is a Certified Sr. Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She was named the Indiana Chamber, Ogltree Deakins and HR Dimensions’ 2013 Human Resources Professional of the Year and a recent recipient of a 2013 Stevie Female Executive of the Year award. She believes in creating your own destiny, enabling movements and enjoys speaking on a variety of human resource and culture transformation topics.
Mitchell Isaacs
Associate Director of Student Life, Ball State University
Mr. Isaacs graduated from Ball State University in 2002 with a double major in History and Political Science and a minor in Counseling Psychology. He completed his Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education at Indiana State University, where he worked as Assistant Residence Hall Director. He returned to Ball State University in 2005 to serve as a Residence Hall Director before becoming the Associate Director of Student Life in June of 2008. Mitch’s current responsibilities include the Excellence in Leadership program, Civic Engagement, the Leadership Studies Minor, the Commuter Connections program, and bringing major speakers to campus. During Mitch’s time in Student Life, the Excellence in Leadership program and the Leadership Studies minor have more than doubled. Mitch also chaired the well-regarded campus/community read program “Caught in the Middle: America’s Heartland in the Age of Globalism.” Mitch also co-created the Commuter Ambassador program, and started the Student Organization Presidents’ Retreat.
