Shafer Leadership Academy (SLA) seeks facilitators for community programming.
We are looking for both virtual and in-person programs.
Call for Leadership Programs
We are looking for facilitators who are passionate about a leadership development topic that they want to share with the community.
You don’t need a specific credential or job title, just a demonstrable knowledge of your topic and the ability to facilitate for an audience. The more specific the topic, the better. Think of a workplace or leadership problem you solved (or have the tools to solve) and create a session that explores how you overcame the problem (in a format that inspires others to do the same). You are welcome to submit multiple proposals and topics.
We seek program proposals that:
- Provide leadership skills that help people think differently in terms of their leadership and for leading others
- Encourage learning through inquiry: create a learning environment where participants can ask questions to enhance learning
- Identify key objectives for the program
- Focus on a narrow topic that can be explored deeply
- Can be facilitated in person or virtually
We seek facilitators, not presenters:
- A great facilitator is interactive with the participants and creates an experiential learning environment that enables participants to have a different conversation today or tomorrow.
Facilitation is the act of engaging participants in creating, discovering, and applying learning insights.
–Association for Talent Development

- Generational Differences
- Mental Health & Wellness
- Artificial Intelligence
- and more…
Program formats may include:
- In-person – Muncie, Indiana
- Virtual – via Zoom®
- 90 Minute Sessions
- 180 Minute Sessions – 2 x 90 Minutes or 1 x 180 Minutes
What Can I Expect from the Process?
Attendance
A typical audience is approximately 10 – 50 participants depending on the topic and format. Attendees will come from a variety of industries and leadership levels. View our current Academy Members for a snapshot of organizations that frequently attend our sessions.
Location
In-person programs will be held at The Innovation Connector (1208 W White River Blvd). You will have access to a laptop, projector, white board, and configurable room. We manage the recruitment, check-in process, and can print your materials. We follow CDC guidelines for the health and safety of all participants.
Virtual Technology
Virtual programs will be conducted over Zoom and often utilize tools such as polls, break-out rooms or Mural whiteboards. We have staff available to serve as a digital producer for your program.
We will continue to accept and process proposals throughout the year.
New applicants may be asked to participate in a brief interview process with Shafer Leadership Academy. Compensation for facilitators will be discussed based on program length and experience. Typical facilitator fees range from $250–$1000 per program. All facilitators will be asked to sign a facilitator agreement in their capacity as a contractor providing a service to Shafer Leadership Academy.
Shafer Leadership Academy will support you through the programming process from beginning to end. Questions can be directed to Eilis Wasserman at ewasserman@shaferleadership.com
